About the TWELVE Financial Crime Program

Created by Dr Ian Messenger, an academic in the areas of Ethics, Leadership and Management, the TWELVE program brings together 12 Industry thought leaders (“Fellows”) and 12 Early Years Financial Crime Professionals (“Associates”) for a 12 month mentoring and development program.

The Program

  • Monthly 1:1 coaching and mentoring sessions with assigned Fellow

  • Monthly 1:1 sessions with Dr Ian Messenger

  • Guest lectures and presentations by industry experts on key Financial Crime topics

  • Sessions exploring the key skills required of a Financial Crime Professional

  • Roundtable sessions on topics of the day with industry professionals

  • Facilitated groups discussions

  • Networking events within the cohort of Associates

COACHING AND MENTORING

Monthly 1:1 sessions between Fellows and Associates to facilitate career development and personal growth. Drawing on the expertise of the Fellow, Associates will develop their career plans, objectives and next steps.
 

GUEST LECTURES AND PRESENTATIONS

The financial crime space is constantly evolving and so must the financial crime professional. Hear from experts from industry and academia on current and emerging threats, hot topics, and risk areas

ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS

Participate in roundtable discussions with industry leaders on topics of the day relevant to career development and emerging trends

NETWORKING EVENTS

Meet likeminded Early Year financial crime professionals and develop a professional network. Meet industry insiders and thought-leaders

Complimenting the practitioner knowledge, Associates will learn the key skills required of the modern financial crime professional. These “soft skills” are especially relevant in the ever-changing financial crime space

The Associate

Prospective Associates will

  • Have 1-3 years experience in a Financial Crime role OR

  • Be a recent University graduate with a degree related to Financial Crime

  • Be based in Canada

  • Be willing to commit to a 12 month program

  • In collaboration with their Fellow, produce a research paper on a Financial Crime topic

The Commitment

  • Meet with your Fellow once a month

  • Meet with Dr Ian Messenger once a month

  • Participate in TWELVE presentations and lectures

  • Be open

  • Ask questions

  • Challenge yourself

  • Complete a paper on a financial crime topic at the end of the program

In order to cover costs of the program for the year 2021, successful applicants are asked to contribute
